Dave Navarro pulls out Jane’s Addiction upcoming tour

Written by on September 30, 2022

Dave Navarro has pulled out of Jane’s Addiction’s upcoming tour as he continues to battle COVID-19.

The 55-year-old rocker has been unwell since December due to lingering viral symptoms and is too “tired” to go on the 32-date Spirits On Fire tour with Smashing Pumpkins starting next month.

Dave is particularly upset because they wanted fans to experience the original lineup of the rock band with the return of bassist Eric Avery. Troy Van Leeuwen fills in for him on tour while Dave stays home in Los Angeles and works on new material.

In a statement on social media, he said: “To all Jane’s Addiction fans attending the Jane/Smashing Pumpkins ‘Spirits On Fire’ tour, I regret to say that I will not be attending due to an ongoing battle against Long Covid.

“I was hoping to be fully recovered by October, but I’m still very tired and can’t join this leg. I’m upset because our original bassist, Eric Avery, is back. We wanted to bring you to the starting lineup, but that will have to wait until I’m healthy. While the band is touring, I’m in the studio here in L.A. working on new material for Jane, and meanwhile I’m being filled in by the great Troy Van Leeuwen.

Dave hopes to attend one of the shows to see his band play.
