The Arctic Monkeys have announced their new album “The Car”.
The band will be releasing their seventh studio album on October 21, and frontman Alex Turner has revealed that the record will bring the band “down to earth” following the intergalactic sound of the latest album. “Tranquility Base Hotel and Casino”.
Alex told The Big Issue: “I think we got closer to a better version of the overall sound with this record. Everything has its own space.
The recording was made with the band’s regular producer James Ford and recorded at Butley Priory, a renovated convent in the Suffolk countryside. Turner – who joined the band of Jamie Cook, Nick O’Malley and Matt Helders – explained that the decision to ditch a typical recording studio was inspired by rock-and-roll legends.
The 36-year-old musician said: “There’s a bunch of Led Zeppelin and Stones records where they stay in this house in the country, then they go and sort it all out and name it somewhere else.”
We went there in the summer, took all the equipment, got the raw materials, and took it somewhere else. “The Car” was released 20 years after the Arctic Monkeys formed in Sheffield and Turner wanted the band to stay true to its roots.
